If the family moved by covered wagon from Polk County to Mills County while Donie was still young, this could account for her memory of "coming to Texas." That would have been a very long trip. Also, a childhood memory of an earlier home could account for her belief that her mother was born in that place ("Poak County"). Further research in the deed and marriage records of Polk County, Texas, is indicated.
